The Never Too Young Football Club (NTY FC) was founded in 2021, just after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and shortly after the restrictions on social gatherings were lessened. Having a 3-year-old at home, co-founders Matt and his wife, Tina LaBarre, believed that young children and families deserved to get some semblance of normal back into their lives. Matt knew immediately the program would focus on introducing soccer to children who were too young for some of the local soccer programs. From an early age, Matt had a passion for soccer; he played at several clubs through the NH Soccer Association and went on to captain the Men’s Dartmouth Soccer team. Additionally, Tina, a Registered Dietitian, has always had a passion for health and wellness. She supplements the program with nutrition education which elevates the value of the program.
During the 2021 season, families gathered in a makeshift field in their backyard, excited to take part in a program that emphasized athletics and academics in a laid back, family-oriented environment. The program continued through the summer of 2025. Now in its sixth year, the program focuses on more advanced skill development, fitness, and sports nutrition for ages 6-10.
“GOAT NH” G Hampshire is the charity foundation and extension of the NTY FC. Participants are encouraged to donate to special causes including, but not limited to, Seacoast Cancer Center, Mass Eye and Ear, and Dana Farber. The NTY FC workshops are hosted at the County Athletic Complex adjacent to the Pope Memorial Humane Society. Donations will have an incredible impact on the dogs and other animals at the facility.
The program is free during the summer months and this year’s workshops included incredible presentations from Stephanie Kadden a school counselor from Oyster River about sports and mental health, Laura Mattes a board-certified clinical specialist in sports physical therapy, and Jessica Miller of the Pope Memorial Humane Society regarding the heroic efforts to care for all the beautiful animals.
NTY FC and G Hampshire are guided by simple values: a love of soccer, healthy snacks, dogs, goats, and doing good. The Seacoast Region—and New Hampshire as a whole—has a strong soccer culture, and NTY FC aims to help grow the national team’s future talent from the grassroots level of our community. Sports nutrition is essential to the success of local athletic programs, and we are fortunate to be part of an outstanding culinary community. Next year, we plan to partner with more local restaurants and nutrition organizations.
